Strasbourg, France, 12-13 of June 2019 - Victim Support Europe 2019 Annual Conference took place on 12th and 13th June 2019 in Strasbourg, France, where Jeannot Mersch, FEVR President participated.
The Victim Support Europe Annual Conference brings together professionals from member organizations from every corners of Europe. The Conference is a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences on providing support to victims of crime. This year the conference, co-organized by VSE and France Victimes, took place in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The theme of the Conference was Victim recovery: a road with many routes.
The first day of the conference (12.6.2019) started with welcome speeches by João Lázaro, President of Victim Support Europe, Maryse Le Men Régnier, President of France Victimes, and Daniela Senk, Head of Unit Conference and Services to visitors in Strasbourg, DG Communication – European Parliament. Following with Victim testimony: Romain Ruiz, former high-level athlete, the victim of the terrorist attack of 13 November in Paris
Following speeches by:
• Joëlle Milquet – Special Adviser to the President of the European Commission for the compensation of victims of crime,
• Chantal Cutajar – Deputy Mayor of Strasbourg,
• Katarzyna Janicki-Pawlowska – European Commission DG Justice,

• Maximising recovery in restorative justice: working with a support focus – Héloïse Squelbut, Coordinator of the North-East branch of the French Institute for Restorative Justice (France)
• Transforming our compensation systems for victims – Ruth Shrimpling, Policy Officer – Victim Support Europe
