09/03/202428.02 2024 ‘Bologna City 30’ a marathon of 30 voices in Bologna (Italy) with mayors, administrators, associations, experts and citizens. Thirty voices to discuss Zone 30, road safety and city autonomy. The large national conference launched by the Mayor of Bologna Matteo Lepore took place in the city hall in the heart of Bologna and was attended by several mayors, experts and associations working on these issues. A diatribe with a political aspect is underway in Italy between the administrators who intend to continue along the path opened up by Bologna 30 and the central government, which seems, inexplicably, to oppose such initiatives. The FEVR president Filippo Randi took part in the congress, to draw attention to the fact that road safety has no political colour, and to highlight the excellent results obtained by the European capitals that have introduced the city 30 in their metropolitan areas, including Brussels, Grenoble, Lille, Paris, London and Bilbao, whose data were compared by latest research studies and homogeneous in finding a net decrease in serious and fatal accidents and an overall improvement in public health.
