FEVR General Assembly 2025 – A New Vision, Mission, and Momentum for the Future
22/05/2025On April 3-4, at the invitation of the Małopolska Road Safety Council, over 40 road traffic safety experts from all over Europe, members of ETSC went to Krakow. On the first day of the visit, a meeting of the ETSC Council Members was held in the session hall of the Marshal’s Office. They were welcomed to Małopolska by the President of the Małopolska Road Safety Council and the Marshal of Małopolska, Mr. Łukasz Smółka, as well as General Secretary of the Council, FEVR board member Katarzyna Dobrzańska-Junco.
Professor Walter Eichendorf, President of the European Transport Safety Council, expressed his gratitude and thanks for organizing the meeting in Małopolska, a region that works so actively in Poland and Europe to improve road safety. Antonio Avenoso, director of ETSC, also drew attention to how Kraków and Małopolska have changed a lot in recent years, the development of infrastructure, transport, and the increase in safety projects, including those for vulnerable road users.
On the first day of the visit, there was GA, a meeting of members, presentations of selected road safety issues and currently implemented projects in Europe. The host of the second day of the Council’s visit was the Kraków University of Technology, a member of the Małopolska Road Safety Council. Thanks to the courtesy of the Rector of the Krakow University of Technology, prof. Andrzej Szarata, the ETSC meeting was held in the Senate Hall of the Krakow University of Technology, during which infrastructural activities in Krakow in recent years, specific examples and solutions that contributed to improving safety in Krakow were presented. The host and speaker on behalf of the Krakow University of Technology was Dr. hab. engineer Mariusz Kieć, prof. PK. Two presentations regarding the activities of the Małopolska Council and FEVR, European projects, safety management activities in the region and solutions improving safety in Małopolska were presented by the Secretary of the Małopolska Road Safety Council. The FEVR activities and main projects were presented by both FEVR board members, K. Dobrzańska-Junco and Wulf Hoffmann from Germany. The presentation included also a WDoR campaign exposition presenting the campaign „That Day” as well as all the activities of FEVR within World Day of Remembrance and Ministerial Conference in Marrakesh.
